QCTU
A couple days late, and I probably should have put down thoughts before this, but hey, here they are anyway.
The obvious:
We can't come out flat like we did on Saturday. We can't come out trying to be heroes and forcing offense like we did against Georgia. I don't think we came out flat against Georgia. We were sprinting hard, playing defense hard, and generally playing hard. What we really needed to do was rub the stupid out of our eyes. The offense last year succeeded because we were so conservative with the disc. However, once reaching Nationals, it started failing because it was so conservative. I don't know what the solution is, but I think the addition of Sean and Stu and Brent's increased development as throwers is a good one. They'll learn to rein in the chancier throws as we go through the season. Sean's more bladey throws scare the hell out of my usual more conservative attitude towards the offense, but they work more often than not, and I hope he starts throwing them to me in practice so I can get used to them in order to be ready for them in game situations.
Weasel and I discussed Wes' injury on the drive home. He suggested that perhaps I be moved to the top of the stack in his stead. While I'll of course do whatever the team needs of me, it's a position that I don't particularly like all that much. Such a static position I find sort of boring. Also, judging by whenI took over the top of the stack upon Wes' injury, and then consequently threw away the continuation off the swing, I don't know if it's the best spot for me. If it's just off a stoppage or (re)set offense, I can deal with it, because I believe our offense should be fluid enough that eventually I'd end up in a downfield cutting position.
More later, time to go to the debriefing.
